Nostalgia

July 30, 2009

Liz and I spent a nostalgic (for me – not for her!) afternoon at Mudeford Beach in Dorset when we were on holiday. My family used to stay in a holiday camp near there when we went on our summer holidays. We would rent a beachhut in Mudeford and spent a lot of time down there…anyway here are some pics I took when we were there. As usual here is a slideshow with a few extra pictures….

More from the seaside…

More pics from Liz and I’s walk along Gullane beach, these ones come from my old Rolleiflex Automat. Its an ugly beat up old thing but continues to make nice pictures.

I do like to be beside the seaside…

Every time I hear that song I think of the time my Dad shattered the silence in a big posh hotel in Cyprus by playing it with gusto on the big white grand piano in the austere reception area 🙂

Anyway these were all taken on Easter weekend on a trip down the coast with Rob. We didn’t stay too long cos it was freezing. Also I somehow lost my panoramic camera when we were there which is a pain. I have another and it only cost me 2 quid in the first place so its no big deal really but I do miss it!

Happy New Year

January 7, 2008

This Hogmanay my friend Liz was visiting from New York and a group of us spent a few days staying in a youth hostel on Bernary in the Outer Hebrides. Its a stunning place and I ended up using a lot of film which I will be processing for a few weeks I think. The full set is here on flickr and I will be adding to it as I process the films.

In the meantime here are a few holiday pics. This is the beach directly outside the hostel. We saw seals swimming right here but I didn’t have a lens longer that 50mm so didn’t try and photograph them.

The view from the hostel one morning. The hostel is a converted crofters house – basic but has everything you might need.

Liz on a beach in North Uist – she is in good spirits despite the fact that about 120 minutes before this she fell on her bum in a quagmire of mud.

Yum, seabirds!

Seabirds!

Claire being all ghostly in the dunes.

The view from a dirty window on the way home…
